Unstoppable
My life felt like a mess. So many problems, so many possible solutions, but nothing was resolving. At the same time, I felt like a new wave of a personal promise the Lord made to me was coming, but I couldn’t see evidence of it amidst the mess. I needed to do the equivalent of ugly crying and kicking and screaming, but on a canvas, painting my storm with thick, rainbow colors to realize a new perspective of it. Each session brought me more peace, clarity on how to continue my day, and hope that went far beyond seeing the day that the storm passes. “Storms,” rough times in our lives, will come, come, come, and come again. Sometimes with no break in between. But my hope is in the promise. When I fixate on it, like a sailor fixing their eyes on the horizon, I feel steadied and grounded, no matter what is crashing about me.
Even in the storm, the promise remains.
Possibly, perhaps, the storm itself is what’s bringing the next wave of the promise.
So let the waves flow. I have an unbreakable peace, for I am holding onto an unstoppable, unbreakable promise.
Amen!
The Collaboration:
Caitie Jo created space for the massive wave on the right and helped with the pastel squiggles, and Claire insisted I utilize the new pink markers and made a couple of pastel marks herself. They helped me to truly feel this piece as a storm!
