At first glance, it’s a dreamy forest scene—A canopy of lush greens, streaks of turquoise, and blossoms of pink and violet come alive. Branches stretching upward, petals suspended midair, colors dripping and flowing like memories. But within its layers is a story of transformation.
This painting began with chaos. My daughters’ playful hands splashed the canvas with water and rainbow colors, leaving behind what looked like a messy underpainting. At the time, it felt like my life—unpredictable, overwhelming, and out of my control. But instead of painting over it, I chose to work with it. The dripping hues became the foundation, inspiring me to create something new.
With each brushstroke, I built beauty on top of disorder: a tree emerging in soft turquoise light, blossoms floating weightless in pinks and purples, leaves cascading in shades of green and gold. And then, the moment of recognition—my daughter Claire looked at it and said, “Mama, I think that painting is just perfect.”
Into the Unknown is about courage in the face of uncertainty. It’s about rising—on wings like flamingos, awkward yet determined—into a future we cannot yet see. It’s a reminder that even the mess can become the masterpiece.
