Determined | S. Perales
Painting small pieces has always been difficult for me. I like to feel encapsulated by a painting, but this one was different. Designed to go together or separate, I was determined to find joy in the little things. Slathering paint and texture medium over old, failed pieces, I started afresh. I was determined to create something small! I then sat on the couch and found the beautiful little hole amidst the branches in the great tree out the window. It created a composition that made the four mini canvases work both together and apart. As my toddlers scribbled on the back, I worked the tiny details together, finding so much beauty in the tiny and perfection in the imperfect.
From a tiny seed grows a mighty Sequoia, but a mighty Sequoia cannot grow from a seed unplanted, or a planted seed unnourished.
This tiny seed has been planted, and I am determined to nourish it.
